Sneak peak of Chicago Cubs' new spring training facility

The Chicago Cubs and city of Mesa are well on their way with the Cubs’ new Mesa Riverview facility, tentatively named Wrigleyville West.

On Wednesday, Mesa and the Cubs invited media to take a tour of the construction site, including the player clubhouse, the stadium and the expanded 28-foot deep lake that will be a part of the larger park outside the stadium.

The Cubs’ 50th spring training season in Mesa will open at the new facility in 2014, but it’s expected to be playable by November. The new home for the Cubs will feature a state-of-the-art training facility that will be the biggest of any team in both the Cactus and Grapefruit leagues.
