B.L. Harbert International will begin construction of a new $16.5 million community center in Homewood this Friday, according to a release.
The center will replace the former Homewood Community Center at 1632 Oxmoor Road, just behind The Exceptional Foundation, and will include a 25-yard competition pool and water playground pool.
City officials and B.L. Harbert will have a ground-breaking ceremony at the site Friday at 10:30 a.m.
The project, which was designed by Davis Architects Inc., is slated to take up to 14 months, a company representative said.
